What is it with 15? Can you guess?

Well, I'm going to visit my parents in 15 more days =) I'm so thrilled and grateful at the same time. It's been almost four years since I got married and moved to the States. I've never been this far apart from my family ... and for such a long time. We are really close to each other, so it is really painful living away from home.

I can hardly wait for the trip. We started planning sometime in May and my Mom has been counting days ever since =) I look forward to spending quality time with them. I am also super excited about all the Indonesian food that I'm gonna eat. I've been craving these food for a while:

Hokkian Noodle (image from makanmana)
Sate padang (image from AIS MIT website)
and much more! Seriously, Indonesia is a heaven for food lovers. Especially if you love spicy food.

In addition to travelling back to Indonesia, me and my husband will also visit two exciting theme parks. One is in Singapore and another one is in Hong Kong =) We are going to have so much fun!

Hi everyone! It's been quite a while huh?

I was really busy with life. So far, 2013 is quite a tough year for me. I'm struggling with uncertainties and worries. I am also trying hard to figure out God's plan in my life. Recently, I got an encouragement from my favorite radio station, K-Love. So I thought I want to share this here with you.

That morning, the radio presenter was talking about keeping a diary or writing journals. I smiled because I like writing journals. She said that sometimes it's good to read back your journals, especially when you are facing a problem or when your life just feel difficult. You can see through various occasions in your past, how God's hands worked. You might felt that you were facing mountains of problems back then, but somehow God opened up a way! This could be a great encouragement... helping us to trust our current problems to God. If He was faithful in the past, He is also faithful today. He will help. He will open up a way for us.

It was an eye-opener for me. These past few years, I've been through a lot. And there were times when I felt that my problems were impossible to solve ... and yet again and again God showed me that nothing is impossible for Him. That moment, somehow I suddenly felt peaceful and happy. I know this time too ... as I wait for the future to unfold ... God's hands are at work. I am writing this post hoping that this can be a powerful reminder for me (or for others) in the future.

More encouragements from the Bible :)

"11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11 [NIV]

"34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
Matthew 6:34 [NIV]

"11 He has made everything beautiful in its time."
Ecclesiastes 3:11a [NIV]

Winter Holiday and Welcoming 2013

Happy new year everyone!! =)

I know this is a very late post. I have been really busy since the beginning of 2013. Back from our long holiday, somehow I realized that there were a lot of things that needed to be done. I really wish I have more than 24 hours a day =P

Anyway, I would like to post pictures from our winter holiday in this first post of 2013. Let this be a wish that 2013 will be bring more opportunity to travel and spend time with loved ones =) We have a very big plan for 2013... we're crossing our fingers and hoping that everything will go well.

Enjoy the pictures!

Our trip started with this amazing tri-tip sandwich. This is the best sandwich I've ever eaten! This is from a restaurant called Firestone Grill located in the heart of San Lois Obispo. It was raining that day, so we didn't have much chance to explore the city.

Next, we went to the beautiful San Diego. We stayed there for three days and two nights. We went to old-town San Diego and saw this hot gingerbread house made from mini Tabasco bottles.

The next day we tried the so famous Phil's BBQ. We were so lucky because that day somehow there was no line! I like the baby back ribs and would love to come back =)

After our tummies were full with delicious ribs, we headed to the beautiful Balboa Park. We didn't have time to explore the entire park. On my next visit, I would make sure to visit San Diego Zoo (which is inside Balboa Park).

Our next destination was LA. We went to another famous place, the urban lights exhibition at LACMA. Inspired by Gossip Girl's Chuck Bass, I took this picture of my hubby =P

While in LA, we also went to Borneo Restaurant for its yummy Hakka Noodle. I took another picture of my husband in the small garden at the back of the restaurant. I love the contrasting color of the yellow tree and the turquoise wall.

Our road trip continued. Next we went to Page, Arizona, to visit Antelope Canyon.

And Horseshoe Bend. The view was amazing.

Then ... the highlight of our trip. The magnificent Bryce Canyon =)

I'm more a city person but I do admit that Bryce Canyon is worth visiting. It was freezing cold, but every now and then I was tempted to open my gloves and took pictures. The view was breath-taking. Everywhere you looked was picturesque.

This is my favorite picture. It was taken on the path to Amphitheatre, before we were entering Bryce's hiking trail.

Our last stop is Vegas. As usual we did some hotel hopping, enjoying the splendor of their Christmas decoration.

M&M World

Crystal - Luxury Shopping Mall

Bellagio Hotel

The Venetian

and Wynn Encore

How about your winter break? I hope all of you enjoy the holiday surrounded with family and loved ones. Again, happy new year!! =)
